Auditions will be held for “Jesus Christ Superstar,” the Palace Theater’s 11th annual community musical, on Aug. 18 at 10 a.m. and Aug. 19 at 5 p.m.

The rock opera has two lead male roles and one female lead.

There are also nine featured male parts, a large choir, a smaller chorus, a trio, plus several other smaller roles.

All ages are invited to audition. Auditioners are asked to come prepared to sing something powerful to showcase both the upper and lower register of their vocal range — Puccini and Mozart are fine, but no rap or hip hop, please. Selections from the show are preferable.

Auditioners who are doing one of the show’s songs will not need to bring piano music for the accompanist. Those who choose other music will need to provide sheet music or a lead sheet for the pianist.

If you do not know anything from the show, then please provide music or a lead sheet for the pianist.

Song suggestions for specific parts are: Judas, “Heaven on Their Minds”; Jesus, “Gethsemane”; Mary, “I Don’t Know How to Love Him”; Caiaphus or Annas, “This Jesus Must Die”; Pilate, “Pilate’s Dream”; and Herod, “Herod’s Song.”

Show dates are October 5, 6, 12, 13,14,19,20 and 21.
